Welcome!

You've reached the Orange County Needle Exchange Program. We couldn't be happier to meet you. If you need clean needles, have dirty ones, need HIV or hepatitis C testing, or are otherwise in need of help, you've come to the right place.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer-run, anonymous needle exchange located in Orange County, grounded in harm reduction and evidence-based principles. We are certified by the California Department of Public Health Syringe Exchange Certification Program. As we survive solely on donations and grants, and are run entirely by volunteers, please consider supporting us or joining us!

We provide:

When visiting one of our sites, you'll briefly check in with one of our staff members. Then, you'll dispose of your needles in one of our sharps containers and get your clean supplies. We exchange on a one-for-one plus 20 basis, meaning that we'll give you as many syringes as you dispose of, plus 20.

Hours

We are open every Saturday in Santa Ana from 12 PM - 3 PM. Please stop by and we'll be happy to help you!

Directions

In the Civic Center, we are located in the plaza behind City Hall and next to the Santa Ana City Council building. Click here to see our exact location on Google Maps.

Directions to OCNEP

From Flower St. and 6th St., go east into the Civic Center parking lot. You'll see a large plaza with many flags in a circle. Walk up the stairs to the flag plaza and turn right towards a large fountain. Once you're at the fountain, you'll see the library to your left and some stairs down to a plaza with some trees on your right. Walk down those stairs and that's where we'll be!

From Santa Ana Blvd. and Ross St., go west on Santa Ana Blvd. until you see a large parking structure on your right. Turn right and walk past that parking structure towards City Hall. When City Hall is right in front of you, look left and you'll see stairs heading into a walkway. Go up that walkway and you'll see us to the right!

Please feel free to call us if you have any trouble. Please know that we may not monitor that voicemail when we're open, but if you call us beforehand we'll call you back and make sure you understand how to find us.

Volunteer

We are a 100% volunteer-run needle exchange. We are medical students, undergraduates, community members, parents, and you! If you are passionate about helping your community, we want you on our team. Volunteers for OCNEP run the exchange, manage our finances, develop research protocols, listen to feedback, and everything else related to the program.

To apply, email us with a brief description of what motivates you to volunteer and any specific skills to help us understand where you might fit in the organization.
